Cameron Highlands Resort - Cameron Highlands Part III

And yes....we have come to the the hotel I like the most at Cameron Highlands...
I simply like the hotel, I went there for work actually, so was basically all alone....

The hotel was the Merlin during those days, situated in front of the only Golf Course at Cameron Highlands, even though just by the main road, but the serenity of the place , is just so overwhelming.

I also like the fact that it is white colour furnishing in the bedroom with the four-poster bed.... It was so relaxing for me.

Come see some photos I have taken :

Walk into the room with this....can you feel it ?

So comfy bed & pillows !!

Let's relax at the seating area

Bathroom is quite small but adequate

Another view of the room
So inviting !!!

Welcome fruits, consisted of the fresh local fruits

Turn Down Service with a stalk of rose on the bed
Strawberries with choc dipping for nightcap
Koi Ponds surrounding the hotel
That's the Japanese Restaurant

View from my Balcony early morning...with the misty mountain
Had my morning coffee here...at the balcony. So nice !

The next few photos, I took from the Internet, but I vouched that they are like what it was at the hotel..... It was hard to take photos at the common areas, without bothering other guests.

We had pre-dinner drinks here....was all classic

The Library , where I had to sit to get the Wifi ( no free wifi in the rooms )
And the view of the 02 stories resort.....

And now, I gladly, give my 02 cents thoughts or review on this hotel.
  1. First of all, I love this hotel..not just like, but love too.
  2. Service was exceptionally fantastic !!! Amazing. I guess, having only 50 odd rooms would give you more attentions.
  3. Did I mention about Service ? Yes....good service
  4. Romantic and nice for honeymooners.
  5. They also have spa village there, the same one like the YTL hotels
  6. Not so friendly for kids, limited suites like 02 or 3 .
  7. Do have a small kids room with videos etc
  8. Nice F&B.
  9. Super duper expensive... minimum RM500 a night.
  10. For Singles, you would just love the quietness for a good rest and read ???

Wow...I have given so much review on this hotel alone....but seriously, it is a very nice property, nice hotel, nice room, if you feel like having a restful weekend or few nights at the cooling Cameron Highlands, then, this is the hotel.

So there, I like...and I love this hotel, for you, you may just like it....or somehow, I find it hard for you to dislike........

Maxims Genting @ Genting Highlands

Now, this is another place that my kids always like to go......normally, I would only do a  one night stay at Genting Highlands. My normal 02D/01N itinerary would be:

10am
- Arrive Genting, go out-door Theme Park for whole day playing. Lunch / tea  or whatever at the Out-Door theme park. In between, check in hotel. Out-Door theme park opens till 6pm on weekdays, but runs till 10pm during school hols & saturdays. So make sure you make full use of the park the whole day as we normally buy a 01 day full pass.

7pm
- Dinner then play In-Door Theme Park as they are open till 1am during school hols & saturdays, and till 12midnite for weekdays. So , make use of the night time here.

The next day, because we only bought a 01 day pass, spend some time shopping if you want, but for us, we normally would just go back to KL ......

Anyway, we stayed at the latest converted hotel in Genting. The Maxims Genting, which is definitely on the top.

Lets see some photos, shall we ?

Lighted door way to the rooms

Rooms are slightly tight, comes with single beds for twin rooms

Nice his and hers vanity

Toiletries Set by Aigner

Toiletries Set in this bag, like the airlines concept

M - Maxims

Nice gadgets on the table

Safety Box , Mini Bar, all in one cabinet

Limited King Size beds if you come during peak days

Yay ! Kids Channel

Just another angle shot

Nice landing area on each floor

Chating area outside the rooms
This is how Maxims looks like, from outside...I got this from Genting's website though...all my facade pictures have my photos or the family's :D

So, ok,lets talk....what can I say about the hotel ?

  1. I would honestly prefer to stay at the Theme Park Hotel since I have 02 children with me. For a simple reason, their rooms are bigger and of course, rates are too :)
  2. This hotel is above the arcade centre, so it would be so easy to just play at the arcade and then go up and sleep.....
  3. OK, since its near the arcade, so it is near the casino as well *huhuhuhuhuhuhu
  4. Unless you are coming typically only 02 persons, then this hotel is fine
  5. But as a family, it is not so much of a family oriented hotel
  6. Oh, they have a nice cafe at the Lobby.....with nice pastries.
  7. Again, it is not a family oriented hotel

Right, so that's my 02 cents worth of thoughts..... you may like or you may don't but its all up to you.....

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

Hey peeps,

My daughter has bugging me to go to Sunway Lagoon, the theme park. The last time we went there, she was like 1 year old :=) :=)

But I didn't want to go to just Sunway Lagoon, so I made the arrangements to be put up at the same owner's hotel too. I opted for Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, instead of the Pyramid Tower.

Now, as you all may know by now, my travellings are 02Adult + 02 Children. If I can't get everyone in the same room due to the bedding, then I would have to take 02 rooms.... so not cost effective !!!

So I am kinda like hotels that have Super Single or Junior Queen beds for the twin sharing. Because....hubby and I can take one child each for each bed !!! Or at the most, just take 1 additional Extra Bed !

Sooooo.....for those families like mine, when you go to this hotel, ask for the twin sharing room, instead of 1 King Size bed and everyone pop on the bed !!!! Muuahahahahahahaaa....

Let's look at the pictures now, shall we ?

A seating area at the poolside to hang around.....

Some decorations at the Lift Landing

The view from the lift landing of our floor and that's the hotel's pool

And this from our room

We can see Sunway Lagoon pretty clear !

More pictures from our floor of Sunway Lagoon

The twin bedded Premier Room

I so like the curtains !! Its dragonflies inprint

Its Junior Queen bed, so can fit an adult and a child :=)

So in conclusion, or whatever my thoughts are worth, I feel that the hotel :-

  1. Is very child friendly and also cater to both corporate and leisure business....so daddy can go all meetings, while children enjoy the pool.
  2. Mummies would be happy as well as the shopping mall is just next door and connected to the hotel !
  3. Rates can be sky rocket high when it is the Middle East Season, so choose your dates wisely.
  4. Otherwise, if you feel that you just want to go to the theme park for a day, spend another day at the pool and shopping, then you can do all these here at this hotel
  5. Food wise as well, since its next to a Mall, so lots of choices, and also there are shop lots in front of the hotel....you can run for a teh tarik anytime.....
  6. When the hotel runs high in occupancy, you may feel that its too crowded....but then , just escape to the pool , your room or the mall !

Now, these are all my thoughts ya, you may like it, and you may don't.....but with the school hols coming, or any long weekends, this could be a short all 3 in 1 hotel ?

Thursday

The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur

My daughter has a high taste in certain things....she's quite a high maintenance too ....one day she asked, " Could we stay at a Ritz-Carlton again ?"..... Ritz-Carlton huh ? ( in my mind was $$$$$ )....so let's go to the cheapest Ritz-Carlton, I supposed, being in Malaysia.

Now, this time, we stayed in a bigger room. The last time I stayed there, my son was still baby, not sure if I have posted that room. But, now, with him still a baby, we wanted to have our own privacy....so we stayed at their Residences, a 2bedroom apartment concept.

Still at the same building, just that, its the next tower...adjoining by the restaurant floor, swimming pool floor and meeting room floor. Separate entrance and separate reception. Oh...they also has their own lounge on the lobby level.

Let's look at the photos ....
The Address :
As you come in the door.....
Walk further in.....and see the hall.
Long hall way to the rooms...
The outlook of the living hall from the rooms' hallway
Honestly speaking....their kitchen is so great !!!! Nicer than mine....they even have a huge fridge. Complete with oven, microwave, pots and pans.
A study room, which I spent time reading on their sofa....a nice solitude area.
Below is the 2nd bedroom for the kids....
Master bedroom's bathroom which ended up being used by the kids..... oh by the way, they have 02 bathroom ( 2nd room comes with a shower stall ) and also a guest washroom at the living hall.
Walk in wardrobe just outside the bathroom
Honestly speaking...I love their master bedroom. None of those big bulky furniture or too many bold colours....
They gave these for my kids....imagine how sugar hyper they were then.... :p but i do love the green colour thingy....and also Macarons !
Bed side turn down service....nice hotel own-made chocs.

The Residences has a their own adult pool which only the guests of residences could use....but don't be despair...they do have another family pool just few steps below......
 So.....my 2 cents worth of comment ??? Let's see :
1) it is expensive ( no doubt ) BUT... you are paying for a Ritz-Carlton
2) Services as always...splendid. The last time I stayed at RCKL, the service was excellent...didn't fail me this time around too
3) Location is great. While it is at the Bukit Bintang area ( where there are like 6 or 7 shopping malls and thousands of people ), but they are hidden behind by a sister hotel, making it more quite and peaceful.....
4) The Residences serve a good stay for families on long stay or is in Kuala Lumpur during the summer holidays ( Middle East Families ) or even just for families on a Leisure Trip
5) Doesn't make any purpose for Business travellers as might as well stay at their hotel rooms instead.

and....these are all just my thoughts...as I have said before, you may like the place, or you may just don't....but as my mother always said...." give it a try first....then decide"
