Thursday

*smiling*

I am actually quite happy....I have received feedback to say that there are readers enjoyed reading my postings.

I am so glad....I am just posting those hotels I have stayed and give some of my thoughts....I have stayed in like.....god ! Don't know number of hotels and if these information can be shared, I would share....after all....we are all bunch of consumers only.

Anyway, yes, will blog more of the hotels....I have a lot more...This year alone, my travelling has been bombastic ! I just have to find the time to blog....

I am off to Hong Kong tomorrow...yes, I shall blog on the hotel I would be staying there.

Boulevard Hotel, Mid Valley ,Kuala Lumpur

If you are a first timer to Kuala Lumpur, the Golden Triangle where KLCC is, or the Bukit Bintang Area, those are not the only places in Kuala Lumpur to shop .....KL has lots and lots of shopping malls ! This Mid Valley area itself, is being called as the " Mid Valley City " as it has 03 hotels, 1 service residences, 02 shopping malls, condos and numbers of office blocks ! So if you are earning those kind of bucks, it would be just awesome to live in the condo here, work at one of the office blocks here, do your groceries at Cold Storage here and shop, drink and etc here in the Mid Valley City.

So one weekend, we wanted to try, how would it feel to live here....they have 03 hotels as I have mentioned right ? and clever enough, its 03 different rating. 5, 4 and 3 star hotels....I opted to stay at the 4 star hotel.

Boulevard is at the northern area of the Mid Valley Shopping Mall. I like the concept where my room is all full glasses. Somehow, even though the place is right smack in the city , with such concept, it makes your room feels more lighter...brighter, you get what i mean ?

Anyway, lets start with my room....with my hubby and the 02 kids...we took the Studio Room. Its all corner room so the size is way bigger than their first 02 room categories.

The King Size bed that has that loonngggg pillow.

Seating area ....but with OLD BOX TV :p
Looks big huh ? but i forgot to take the study table area...or the walk in area. Sorry for the some pictures cutting.....don't want my children to get all the glams :)
Somehow, i would prefer hotels that have less paper, less cluttering ?
Behind the MAICSA building, is where Robbinson is....shopping !!!

 Opposite is the condo area.
Rare sight of some greens in the city
Not bad for 4 star hotel...
Even the bathroom is all glasses.
 Love the his and hers.
Bath tub and shower stall..... of course.
The coffee house is also on the same level as the pool....if you see below, its on the left, then the nice pool ( don't have shades though ) then you could see the gym next to the pool. The green building is actually an office block....hmmm...didn't think the part where the office people would see you in your bathing suits....muuahahahhahahahaaaa

So, do I like this hotel ? well, there is nothing not to like....but you see, it is a hotel that able to cater to all purposes....I will summarize as below :
  1. It caters to both needs....corporate and leisure travellers. Most of the office people all over there have the option of 03 hotels
  2. The Leisure travellers would also be perfect. I mean, to shop and shop from the time the shop opens at 10am right till 10:30pm ?
  3. location is perfect as in shopping , food, they have cinemas there at the malls, pubs, clubs
  4. Hotel rooms have a lot of categories do cater to your needs.
  5. Room rates are reasonable
  6. Family friendly too
Yes, I like the hotel...I also like for the fact that they serve varieties of coffee at the breakfast buffet...save some budget on Starbucks :)

Well, again and again...since I like it, you may like it or you may just don't.....

Tuesday

Casa Del Rio , Melaka

One weekend, we decided to hit the historical city in Malaysia, which is Melaka. If you know the history of Malaysia ( then was Malaya ) the invasion of the Portuguese, British and etc, started off from Malacca / Melaka.

So off we went to check out the latest hotel in the city, which is Casa Del Rio. Situated just few minutes walk from the "red colour buildings" in the Melaka town and also on the next road to the famous Jonker street, in terms of location, it is nice. It is also next to the Malacca river, so you can see the river from your room, if you are into all these things :)

Bad of me for not remembering what is this place called. But, one thing I remembered , this place is a NON SMOKING ZONE. Good huh ? a non-smoking tourist zone.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were given cold towels put on this tray : So we are home ??
So we got into the room and was given Hollywood twin bedding. Oh well.....but the bed was nice. I guess, the place is still new, so everything should still be good ? :)
Another view of the room. The upper deck is the bathroom and also the wardrobe area.
Just another view
The luggage / wardrobe area, just as you enter the room.
the bathtub open up to the bedroom area.
a lot of hotels have this design since ages....I guess having an open bath is an attraction ?
The toiletries for the bathtub
soap made out cinnamon stick...smells nice, then it will dissolve and be like a scrub ?
Soap in a dispenser...a cost saving for the hotel ;p
and the next picture.....errr....for your own comment :)
somehow the fan reminded me of another hotel....oh yeah...you can bring back the fan :)
 Some books at the corner....
as Melaka is famous for its Baba & Nyonya heritage, Kebaya which is their costume, has been told out in this book.....just for your reading pleasure..and not to be "smuggled" out :)
and one of the books, actually consisted of all the remotes !!! cool !
Some old memoir of old ways....the 555 note book.
I just thought they could actually print out the sticker name rather than cut and paste ?
I like the welcome platter....Onde onde or Buah Melaka, another traditional Baba & Nyonya delicacies
Hand made crafts which Melaka is also famous for
Some designs on the wall to reflect the "Casa"
 A combination of Spanish ?
We went for drinks at the lounge and they give tidbits in "Dimsum" Basket... creative.
The infinity pool on the 3rd floor....yes, the hotel is a low rise complex.
this is the view of the Melaka river from the hotel. Your room could be facing here too.
a long stretch river...no River Thames ok ?
You could also see the other attractions of Melaka here.
From the pool area, you would also overlook the lago or other rooms.
this is the Lago....most of the rooms, the balcony would be facing the Lago, which is more pleasant i feel. The water below is not a swimming pool, ok ?

Anyway, this hotel is fairly new, a couple months old hotel. We had a bad experience here. You hardly read any negative comments from me about a hotel, right ? but since the experience encountered here was very bad, I have to say it here..... so what we went through ?
  1. the waiter tripped and split a tray of drinks over my husband and the water went into his bag and spoilt some stuffs like his bluetooth, the leather bag itself and etc. To make matter worse, none of the management apologized till i brought it up and what they do to clean up the mess, was to use a hair dryer and attempt to dry the bag, which didn't work. Oh well, you may say that is just an accident.
  2. at 8am in the morning, on a Sunday, they were doing refurbishment work. Drilling and knocking. Telling the front office staff was like telling my son to stop crying...oh god...was a horrible experience.
My conclusions for this hotel would be :
  1. Hotel's location is good.
  2. Room space is good
  3. Decorations are nice
  4. Service is bad

So again and again, this is my 02 cents worth of experience...you may face something better who knows, but if I were to go there again, I would go maybe 02 or 03 years down the road....when they are older. But then again, maybe you would like it or you may don't....just like me *wink*

Monday

Pangkor Laut Resort (PLR) - Part 3

Gosh.... this is so long overdue....I have been busy for the past 03 weeks as the summer is coming up and a lot of things needed to be done.

So, here it is the Part 3 of my PLR, of my recent visit to the resort. This time around, we stayed at the Hill Villa.

When it is Hill Villa, means its either by the hill or on top of the hill, so this one, is somewhere there :p To go up to the hill villa, don't worry. There is an elevator to go up. Actually by the side, you would see a long stairs going up the hill, which my hubby said, if I have to walk up there, I would just pay for the lower category and be it.

Oh yes, Hill Villa is actually the 2nd category of the rooms. Everything is the same as the Garden Villa. Just that you would get this view from your balcony:

Other than that view from the balcony, you would have this view of your neighbours too :

The above is actually my balcony and the furthers is the next door's balcony. So in terms of privacy, unless you let go of the blinds, you would definitely be like sitting at a common lounge.
Then the picture below, is the other side of the balcony view where you would see the next villa's area. Because the other one is higher, so they can see you more than you can see them *wink*

However, the balcony area which I have been talking so much about, is not bad. I love spending the time reading outside here too when it gets too noisy at the common pool area ( which tend to be quite loud when you have rowdy people *ppffftttttt )

We also used the chairs below for our dining. Order room service and sit outside here....just nice.

Picture above you can see the lounger for you to sun bath ....and you see the Cleopatra chair ? it felt so good just to lie down and read books.

Then lets go and see the room :). As you come in, you would see this....a stack of magazines...YTL produces some reading materials too....

In between the bathroom and the bedroom , there is actually a space where the wardrobe is and also the minibar and etc. Then as you turn to the right ( in my case, is to the right ), you would see the Bedroom and the way out to the Balcony.

Some of the pictures they have in the Villas

The nice bed...really nice, I shall say.

And I love the part where it says " Welcome back " ....yes, I am back !

The view of the room from the balcony....you can see the writing desk and a sofa on the left hand side....the TV is also there.

I like them giving this bag for you to use on the Island....you can just leave your LV, SF, Gucci and etc.... hahahahhaaha :)
This is the outdoor sunken bath....its very romantic for couples. But for outdoor bath, you have to request for the lower unit. You see the villa has 04 units for whole entire villa. So 02 down and 02 up. The upstairs unit would have a covered sunken bath.

Laze in the sunken bath and look up to this forest.....*sigh*

The lovely toiletries

The view from the bathroom area...long long way.

So , this is the final posting, for the meantime about PLR. Unless if I go again, which I would love to go again with Hubby, I would go for a different room category so that I can post it all.

My final conclusion of this resort, this is a gorgeous resort for honeymooners, a short weekend gateway for couples ( short as the F&B are quite costly ) and for loners who just want to be alone. Not so child friendly, am not sure what can my children do here....so definitely just for you and you :)

Oh well, this is again, my thoughts of this resort, from both stays I did this year.....I have friends who don't like it, so maybe you would, then maybe you won't.......
